Correct Answer
It became the UK's first fossil free village

And here's something for you to take back

The entire village now runs on biofuels, according to Biofuels News

We dug a bit deeper. While there is no authenticated info that there is no fossil fuel being used in the village, another recent news item threw light on the interesting and impactful biofuel - the use of HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil). HVO is a biofuel similar to biodiesel derived from a hydrotreated process of vegetable oil - as against biodiesel which is derived from transesterification of vegetable oil.

The real value of HVO (compared to biodiesel) is that HVO is a drop in replacement for diesel, which implies that there is no need for any changes to a diesel boiler or engine, and one can also blend HVO with regular diesel if there is a need for topping up.

Essentially, the use of HVO makes it extremely convenient for many houses, commercial units and industries keen to shift to a low carbon or zero carbon fuel without having to invest in any changes to their heating systems, boilers, engines or generators.

Perhaps it is time the world took HVO more seriously.
