To provide a perspective, the empty (no fuel & load) weight of a large aircraft (like Boeing 747) is about 200 tons.
We are talking about putting together two such large aircraft (and vertically :)) when we are putting up a 3 MW onshore wind turbine
If this is what it is for a 3 MW turbine, just imagine what it could be for offhore wind turbines which could have capacities as high as 10 MW each.
We live in HEAVILY interesting times, don't we!
