While the belching & burping of livestock, a result of enteric fermentation, releases large amounts of methane, emissions occur from other components of the livestock value chain. 

Within the value chain, feed production and enteric fermentation from ruminants represent 45% and 39% of total emissions respectively, according to FAO. Manure storage and processing contribute to about 10% of emissions.
