It is a bit surprising that gasification based hydrogen generation is not spoken as much as that from electrolysis, because gasification is also a proven technology. Gasification heats biomass in the presence of pure oxygen and converts it into syngas (mainly CO & hydrogen) from which separating hydrogen could be much easier than separating it from water
